Our Story

In late 2018 our families were woken up by the loud knocks of fire fighters at our door. Wildfires had reached our doorsteps and we had to evacuate our home right away. The next day, the fires followed us to our offices in Westlake. With smoke quickly filling the building and surrounding area, we were once again forced to flee.
The fires changed every aspect of our lives within one day.
After leaving our offices, something clicked and we made a vow to make conscious lifestyle decisions that positively impact the environment. We decided to incorporate sustainability in all aspects of our lives, including our work in the bedding industry. That day was the dawn of Westlake—An environmentally conscious approach to ultra-luxury, heirloom linens.

A journey to sustainability
Our journey started in pursuit of the ideal textile. We searched the world for the most perfect organic cotton. We researched a variety of cotton all over Asia, North and South America, and Africa where we could not find the quality needed to craft our envisioned end product. As destiny would have it, we finally found the perfect cotton for luxury, organic cotton in Italy, where we later created our artisan crafting factories.

After finding our dream textile, we moved forward in finding the perfect weave to create our heirloom, luxury linen. We realized that the softer weaves were overworked and would not meet our promise of longevity and heirloom quality, while the longer lasting weaves were simply not soft enough. To overcome this obstacle, we created our own custom weave, uncompromising of both quality and luxury.

We wanted to have a submersed experience in the crafting and stitching of our products. We first started by taking sewing classes and later interviewed master craftsmen in the industry. Although long and extensive, this process really helped us understand the quality of work we wanted from our seamstresses and even better understand what we were not willing to settle for. This practice was also able to shine clarity on the craftsmen and the factory our products are made in.

It took us over two years to develop our version of the most perfect, uncompromising product and company. We were set to create an organic and sustainable product that was made of the finest detail and craftsmanship. We went through great lengths to explore every avenue and facet of production to ensure that we were creating a brand that was truly non-toxic and chemical-free. To ensure maximum longevity of our heirloom products, we created new technology with our innovative weave. We made no shortcuts and will happily disclose all details of each step and cost of our production.

We are fully committed to being transparent and honest. Through our visual chart, we demonstrate that we cut no corners in providing our products. We also illustrate Westlake’s dedication to maintaining affordability and integrity. We are devoted to working towards a better planet through the quality of our products and choices.
